“With 25 years of experience, I carefully assess your body with each visit. With my training and expertise, I combine a selection of modalities designed for you, creating a custom experience with my signature massage. The following are a sample of modalities I will use to create the most effective experience for you."
Infant Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically to promote the healthy development of your infant. Caring human touch is crucial for a healthy thriving baby, and the benefits of massaging a young child are many, including:
- Improved growth and development of the brain and nervous system
- Strengthened immune system function
- Regulated sleeping patterns, leading to deeper sleep
- Greater levels of trust and intimacy between parent and child
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, MLD can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury or plastic surgery, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness.
Medical Massage differs from regular Massage and Bodywork in that the treatment is specifically directed to resolve and cope with conditions diagnosed by a medical doctor. I may use a variety of modalities or techniques during the treatment, for such conditions as Whiplash, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Tennis Elbow, Golfer's Elbow, Headaches, Shoulder Disfunction, TMD, Plantar Fasciitis, Sciatica, Hip and Knee Disfunction, Disc Pathology, Scoliosis, Arthritis (RA and OA), Fibromyalgia, Diabetes, Inflammatory Disease, Parkinson's, MS, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and support for cancer survivors.
Pregnancy Massage is a form of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. A prenatal table with breast and supported belly opening is available with physician release. Pregnancy is a time in which a woman’s body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical, mental, and emotional changes. Using various techniques specifically for the new mother, Pregnancy Massage helps alleviate discomforts experienced throughout the pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the reduction of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, improved breathing and relaxation, and relief from uncomfortable digestive issues.
Labor Support/Induction Massage Skilled, appropriate touch facilitates labor, shortening labor times and easing pain and anxiety.
Postpartum Massage In the postpartum period, specialized techniques rebalance structure, physiology, and emotions of the new mother and may help her to bond with and care for her infant. Specialized, advanced training in the anatomy, physiology, complications, precautions, and contraindications is highly recommended, and many practitioners require referrals from physicians prior to therapy.
Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet. Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body. According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into the feet. Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression.
Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing “trigger points†in your body. Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle tissue rather than along the energy pathways of the body. These ‘knots’ are built up throughout a person’s life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points. This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.
Geriatric massage, with its focus on the elderly, addresses the psychological and physiological aspects of aging and its associated diseases. Bodywork, often limited to a shorter time span, is often performed in residential care facilities.
The use of essential oils (extracted from herbs, flowers, resin, woods, and roots) in body and skin care treatments is known as aromatherapy. Used as a healing technique for thousands of years by the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans, essential oils aid in relaxation, improve circulation, and help the healing of wounds. Aromatherapy diffusers are utilized to fill the massage room with the scent of the oils. Specific essential oils are blended by the aromatherapist and added to a carrier oil, such as almond oil, to be used during the massage. Each oil has its own unique characteristics and benefits.
Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don’t get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.
Acupressure is a form of bodywork similar to acupuncture, with the aim of stimulating specific points along the energy lines of the body to establish overall health and vitality by balancing your Qi (energy) flow. Unlike acupuncture however, with this modality I use my hands to apply pressure to the specific points rather than needling, producing similar therapeutic results.
This treatment is perfect for the person who’s back is in need of a little extra TLC. I combine application of warm Dead Sea detoxifying mud and massage to restore balance to the back and renewed well-being to the body. Soothe, heal and cleanse the body and mind. The natural healing properties of Dead Sea Mud and selected clays are blended with essential oils (lavender, chamomile, damania, marigold, lime, cornflower, and St. John’s Wort). which are rich in anti-inflammatory, desensitizing and healing properties. Will assist the body in purging the body of toxins, hydrating and healing the skin as it dries.
Breathe in the aromatic fragrance of the French countryside as you surround the skin in a richly hydrating cocoon. This remarkable mud contains soothing Rose Clay extracted from the Provençe region of France. Carefully sun-dried to retain its purity, the clay is infused with powerful source derivatives of deeply hydrating Apricot and Wheat Amino Acids, Beta Glucan, Rosa Centifolia, and Alpha Hydroxy Lactic Acid to provide a multifunctional skin renewing treatment that accelerates epidermal cell renewal, ensures renewed hydration and stimulates the skin’s self-protecting mechanism against UVA-induced oxidative stress.
